Charise M. Hoge

Charise Hoge has worked in the field of health and healing for over twenty years in the disciplines of social work, dance therapy, polarity therapy, and yoga. Her experience includes four years counseling expatriates in Thailand, where she developed an expertise in cross-cultural issues. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Sarah Lawrence College in 1980, followed by a Master of Arts Degree in Dance/Movement Therapy from New York University in 1984. She earned a second Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia in 1992.

Charise lived overseas as a child in Panama City, Panama, as a college student in Paris, France, and as a military spouse in Bangkok, Thailand. Overall she has relocated more than ten times, including once while writing A Portable Identity.

Charise currently lives in the Washington, D.C. area with her husband and two daughters. She teaches SynergyYoga and performs with the Ancient Rhythms Dance Troupe. She also enjoys writing, getting together with friends, and going with her family to the wilds of West Virginia for the occasional weekend getaway.
